Does anyone else think that plants are perhaps… Natures humidifiers?
pastor_chris, ohigrow and 4 others-
They sure do put up with a lot of bad gas from us humans Lol!
In a way we should respect the plant more then most people understand.
They absolutely are natures natural transpiration system think of the rainforest. It breaths moisture inside of some of those micro climates.
Definitely awesome for some biodiverse life.

@mrautoflowapowa I just hear so much about how you need a humidifier and dehumidifier and this and that… I just control the temps and the micro climates ending up with ideal VPD most of the time.
All the technology isn’t always needed and we obsess too much of gear. The plants are the gear. Give them light and airflow!

Humidity drops? One of your plants is probably asking for water.
-
@zoomycat it’s necessary when working at on a large scale, or in a bigger grow.

@Hash I’m still small scale so yeah for sure. When I try to overdo things with gear on the small scale it doesn’t seem to go well. I find its better to add things as you need it.

Plants do a lot for us is many ways not just therapeutic. But yeah, I mean watching your humidity fluctuate in your tent on your controller graphs it’s like showing their lifeline and breathing. If it wasn’t for plants, trees and vegetation (fungi included) we wouldn’t have good air to breathe. Getting backed and doing homework at home has taught me a lot the last year focusing on gardening and a deeper dive into how plants operate.

@SurfDad_grows Same here I want to go back to school for Agronomy due to my experiences with plants this year.

As my plants get bigger I use less and less hunidity and it stays around 60% My exhaust triggers at 60. I’m in flower, week 12. yeah she’s a long runner. I give her about a gallon of water every other day. Maybe 3/4 of a gallon every day soon.

@flowerpower Yes of course. If you look at pulse the charts change as the plant cycle changes, I’m sure you’re aware of this. But what I’ve noticed is if I do a few simple things – Of course these things change during the time of the year and growth cycle – then the plants transpiration is able to dial in my VPD for me.
Basically if I setup the correct microclimate(an enclosure), Can be a closed dome or an open closet, I’ve had an open setup in my bedroom with a hula hoop and all the plants grouped pushed my RH up from 10% to 45% and I was using this to fix the humidity in my house during the summer.
This is my second winter in this place and I learned I can control the temperature separate in each area of my house. So my Closet is cool for the plants to keep transpiration at a lower required rate. Its easy for the Cannabis and Strawberry plant to set the Optimal VPD.
Inside the dome the plants are able to again set a much higher RH that the smaller plants need. But I am not trying to make them change a room, They are small and got their dome.
A lot of talk I hear about gear is that you need a humidifier or dehumidifier. In my closet I’ve got a small tower fan meant to be put on a desk/table and keep me cool in the summer that pushes towards the door of the closet at the back, it oscillates of course.
Just outside the doorway I’ve got a standing fan that Oscillates between pointing at the door and pointing towards my bedroom 90 degrees out. So this probably does the job at cycling additional moisture out towards the rest of my house.
That is it, I’ve got no carbon filter or ventilation at all yet and the Pink Lemonade Auto I grow is citrus in nature and not very loud. I’ve not felt the need. I’ve asked if the neighbors smell it and they say no. Not sure about the new Pink Plum Kush I’ve just started. We’ll see!
If I need it I’ll build a room scrubber and run that. I learned how from a guy on reddit a week or two ago 😀
