Any advice on how to grow nugs with more hairs and less leaves?
budwinjones, crazydaze412 and 2 others-
Cold soil temps can make leafier buds but it’s really a genetics thing so I would look into breeders that breed for that in my experience solfire has a lot of crosses that are more bud then leaf

@dales_dankness You have answered what I suspected! Thank you so much!

Calyx to leaf ratio can be manipulated a bit but structure is mainly genetic. Certain root stresses and too much nitrogen available in late flower will induce leafier plants.

I grew this Chocolate Thai Auto from Blimburn and it is covered in red hairs, not too leafy, big buds. But it didn’t really have a strong effect. No real body effect. I end up doing the dishes or vacuuming after I smoke it.

You need to try a chocolate Thai plant that is not an auto.

Genetics, genetics and more genetics.

Start with genetics (strain/genotype) that is known to produce fewer sugar leaves. This is going to be 90% genetics and 10% how you grow it. Also, the “hairs” are actually “pistils”, and they have ZERO to do with potency. Those are just the female sex organs for receiving pollen, and while their orange color can be pretty on a final flower, they contain no substantial levels of cannabinoids and do absolutely nothing to increase potency.

@pacnw-dan but iv noticed the more leaves and less pistols end up a lighter bud. Bud with fewer leaves always seem to yield higher weight

I think that’s more genetics than anything. Probably coincidental.
