Got one of the packs won from Soup’s 420 hour DGC show! Are these photoperiods?!?!? I assume “regular seeds” means photoperiod. I would love to be able to clone them, that would be epic lol
arnogardens, guppygirl and 6 others-
Yep Reg non fem. Both male and female

Regular is not in reference to whether it is photo or auto but whether it is feminized or not. So those seeds will pop males or females and you need to watch out as you grow them.
If we look up the parents we will find whether it is Auto or not. If one of those has Ruderalis genes then its auto if not we got a clear photo period seed there.2-
I can’t find sucker pucker punch but there are a variety of strains with sucker punch in the name.

@zoomycat Ill dive into it. I really hope they are photoperiod. I dont mind males when I can clone and produce even more seedling love for generations to come🥰

@pharocityfarms I’m feeling you may have what is a semi-auto variety or possibly fast flowering. I think these terms are interchangeable.
I have no information on any of where the genetics came from there though so its based on internet searches and guesses which one it may be, It looks like the sucker punch is likely an auto variety and I’m just looking up the other one now.
If the other one is a photoperiod you may get seeds that are male or female and produce auto traits or not. You may have some true randomness on your hands on whether the auto genes show or you just get fast flowering from the auto genes. Both are the same thing expressed in different ways.

At least that is what I’ve come up with upon all my research.

@zoomycat oh I forgot, The breeder is heart and soil seeds. This particular strain is not on there, but both strains are used in their other products. The seeds titled (reg) dont show photo or auto. The other seeds with those strains labeld as reg have a flower time of 63-70 days though. Not sure if that narrows it down.

@pharocityfarms They are photoperiod male and female seeds. Feminized would be labeled, autos would be labeled.

-
@zoomycat This is all on seedsherenow.com btw

@pharocityfarms Cool that makes things easier to narrow down. If anything do they have contact info that you could ask them details of what you’ve got?
1-
Cool. I’m about to do that with one of the seed packs I bought. Golden Melon but I have no info other than that. I do have info that they won the 2023 Canada Flower Cup with Watermelon Sugar. Which I also got.

@pharocityfarms What is the strain name itself?
1-
@zoomycat The pack literally just says the cross and the back has their logo. I’ll just contact them. When I get the answer I will post it back here💯

@zoomycat this is wrong. Regs mean regular Photoperiod, it’s not a reference to sex. Fem seeds can be either reg or auto as well.
-
@guppygirl No. That means we have 2 terms for photoperiods but 0 terms for the opposite of Feminized.
Autos are created by breeding a photoperiod with a ruderalis(Simplified) thus they are the opposite side of the coin there.
Feminized seeds are created by stressing out the plant with a spray that gets it to reverse genders and when we do this with a female… We get pollen that has female genetics, When we Mix this back into it self or into another female plant we get Feminized seeds… This is not the Regular cycle of a Male and Female plant breeding thus Reg and Fem are the two sides of the same coin.
I hope it makes sense now why its not regs = photo. Its regs = non-feminized. If you want I can toss you a bunch of links to seed listings that will show the same. You will find listings for Feminized Photoperiods but *never* a Feminized Reg because you can’t have both.
-
@zoomycat this is still wrong.
Reg means photoperiod, Auto means crossed with Ruderalis, and Fem means photoperiod OR Auto that has been made to produce female polen only either by stress or by exposure to a chemical agent such as STS.
So you are incorrect to say they are opposite. They are not.
@jmystro please correct us if either of us has this wrong.

@guppygirl This is the Weathered Islands Craft Cannabis where to buy page. Explain why there are Regular Autos on the list? Because Regular refers to the gender. You want regular seeds if you want to breed.
If I in any way felt I could be in any way wrong I’d be the first to say so, I would not confidently say something unless I 100% felt it was true and if I did not. I would say so. You’ve seen it in my posts that if I’m unsure I say I’m no expert here but… This is something I’m 100% sure on.
-
@zoomycat I have no doubt that you are sure. Certainty doesn’t make us correct.
-
-
@guppygirl So you’re also saying that breeder and every Canadian Cannabis breeder/dispensary I’ve talked to is wrong? Please cease this, I even said it could potentially be country specific(so you had an out on being wrong and we could amicably agree to disagree) and you just want to double down on your belief that I am wrong when you have no rationale behind what you’re saying and I’ve explained *why* it is what I’m saying with logical rationale on why its not regular = photoperiod.
If it was regular = photoperiod then the chart I showed you has a bunch of impossible seeds on it doesn’t it? But you will never find a feminized regular.
You will see Photoperiod | Feminized as you see on *both* of the Palm Gardens Packaging. I could pull up other breeders lists that go in line with what I’ve said. I know this because I researched all the different types of seeds because I want to *BE* a breeder. So stop gaslighting me on stuff I know telling me I don’t, I’m going to get very frustrated – very quickly if it continues.
-
No one is gaslighting you. You seem upset. I hope you feel better.

@guppygirl @zoomycat Labeling is not universal. There are terms used to describe seeds that may be confusing. Regular seeds mean male and female, not feminized. Autos and photoperiods can be regular or feminized. It should be labeled. Regular seeds can also be labeled as ‘traditional’ as well. Almost all auto breeders make them feminized because most people don’t want to pay for male autoflowers. Doesn’t mean it’s not possible.

@zoomycat and @guppygirl they are photoperiod. The site has drop down menus for: regular, feminized, and auto.
-
@pharocityfarms good, sounds like they were just what you wanted. I’m glad.

I think autos are like vegans -they’ll make sure to tell you 😉

@battlemorph I cackled way to obnoxiously at that. One of those cackles that surprise you so bad you immediately quiet yourself and hunkerdown as if you are going to wake people up even though you are alone🤣

@pharocityfarms Fantastic description – I could feel it 🤣
