Had two plants throw out some “mitten” leaves. Two different cultivars. Wondering if this is a genetic deformation or the result of stress from being taken out of the tray they were started in and transferred to solo cups. I suppose time will tell but thought id share it.
Otherwise everything is looking healthy and showing appropriate signs of growth.

Looks like an interesting mutation. I can’t wait to see the plant when it’s huge!

There’s not typically a lot of stress plunking a rooted cut into a cup, certainly not enough that it would throw out malformed leaves. I’m going with mutation on this one. I’ve seen a couple of these in the past and (in my cases) they grew out just fine after the 3rd-4th node.

@pacnw-dan it actually looks like the next nodes are normal so it looks like your advice is on point here. 😀

Not too uncommen. The ones I’ve seen grow out of it. By the 4th or 5th node it’ll probably be throwing normal leaves.

I think it’s because they were born in Michigan and they’re just showing some pride for their home state, aka the Marijuana Mitten.
