Yeah… Sunday started off great! “Can’t Buy a Thrill” on the turntable to wake the family and my 16 yr old runs upstairs and hands me a Christmas present he got me that came late yesterday.
It took me a few minutes to recover from the shock, elation and absolute befuddlement that overcame me. Fucker tracked down an original pressing of Steely Dans Aja that is signed by the illustrious duo themselves!!
My god… No samples and real people playing original, complex music on instruments… straight to tape withiut auto tune. This is the oinnacle of recording technique and musicianship. Pairing well with some Ecuadorian dark roasted espresso and a giant cone of Strawberry Cough.
Now… off to shop for reservoirs, pvc and a frame for this album cover!!

@Hash He drew out this modified shape a few years back, playing around at the shop. The cherry tree he was made under down in Tennessee was struck by lightning in ’17 and my family saved the wood for me. This is that wood. There’s been many Whackos conceived under that tree and now he might get some near it too!! 🤘🏼🤣🤘🏼
He turns 17 in mid February and this is his present.

@Hash He’s a bit spoiled… 🤣 He’s grown up in a recording studio and luthier shop and things that even seasoned pros have trouble achieving he hops like speed bumps on a bike. He programs our CNC/CAD/CAM operations for everything we do from plane props to custom carved plaques and guitars. He has carte blanche access and keys to my shop and both studios. Watch this one. If he can get out of his own way, and CBD has been life altering for him in that respect, he’ll do something great! Wish my dad had made guitars and grown weed… he just invented tire machines and went to church.🤘🏼🤣🤘🏼
