Day 6: Hitting them with IR at night.
As I mentioned in my previous (video) post, I’m going to be adding in IR at “dawn” and “dusk” to wake the plants up and to put them to sleep. The plan is to run IR for a 30-minute window, 15 minutes before and after the light turns on for the day and off for the night.
Here’s the canopy immediately after the main light turned off, and under just the light of those IR bars. My Pulse Pro shows a peak at 776nm which is well into the IR range. The bell curve is producing functional light from 650nm through 897nm. Today’s smart phone cameras (this is a Galaxy S24) perform a lot of color and brightness adjustments. The dimmest photo is actually what things look like to my naked eyes, very dim red light, 8W per bar so 16 watts total (Mars Hydro AdLite-IR15).
Once I get some actual budset (typically day 14-21) I’ll start adding in 20W of UVB/UVA for 4 hours at the peak of the day but that’s a couple weeks off still.
Fishwali, battlemorph and 9 others-
I bought the IR15 during the black friday sales but I don’t have the ability to test the spectrum so thanks for sharing 👍
and the first time I saw them running in my tent I thought: ‘Horror Show!’ It looks eerie
