How many watts do you growmies recommend for a 4×8 LED grow?
terpking and militan3471-
2x HLG 750w/650w or 4x HLG 350w (just using HLG because they’re DGC)

It’s not necessarily about watts like back in the hps days it’s more about canopy area with leds. 1400w will cover the whole area with more than enough light.

1200w

I would get a couple of light bar style lights. Mars hydro fc-e8000 is good for a 4×4 footprint so two would be perfect wall to wall coverage. Some would say to powerful but if you put a powerful fixture in a perfect fit space you’ll only have to use like 50%-60% of the output on the knob. Therefore your light will last longer since it’s not running 80%-100%.

I have 2 se7000 spider farmer lights in my 4×8…can easily get you over 1000 if your using co2…been in my tent for two grows back to back of photos…

I switched to an hlg 325 max for my 3×4 and very happy, going to get the 4×8 eventually and am planning on 3 hlg 350 diablo or 2 700 r spec fr depending on monetary conditions at the time

It’s not about watts. A quality (like Samsung LM diode series) LED drawing 500W puts out almost 50% more light than older lamp tech such as HPS running the same wattage.
Grow lights are measured in PPFD (plant-available light output) not watts. Watts are just the amount of power used (and thus, heat generated) to produce that light.
So all that said, I would just treat a 4×8 as if it’s two 4×4’s. So two good lights for a 4×4 should give you great coverage to the edges.
Depending on your budget, anything in the Mars Hydro 4000, Spider Farmer 4000, HLG 700 type would work great, you just need 2 of them.
