Am I just to old and jaded?!!
Is it just me? What’s the deal with seeds now a days. I order 10 from this place selling wedding cake auto’s. 5 popped of 10 but only 2 survived. They were the smallest pot plants I’ve ever grown. Bonsi style lol seeds seemed so weak and sketchy to what I remember.
Now I ordered some fem’s from
Kind Seed, sets of 2 each. So I got 7 strains and they thru in 4 freebies.
10 popped, 3 died with the root just starting to show its self. Just stopped growing and got soft. 7 are alive but 3 just barely coming around from growing a tail and being transplanted.
I’ve always been a clone guy but I’ve popped a lot of seeds in my days. Started growing in the 80’s.
The seeds seem the pop with less vigor then I remember. Before, they’d bust out reaching. Same in the paper towels, you’d look away for half a day and come back to a pipe ready to get laid in the ground.
Now, they seem to crawl out of there shells and struggle to grow in their paper towels. So weak and frail like. The seeds im talking about came out of pressed bricks from down south. Not the best stock. But dang those little suckers wanted to live and grow. Good old weed seeds lol
Has this happened due to all the crossing and mixing of strain or
am I just to old and everythingng is fragile to me lol

I feel the same way. I’ve had some horrible results with some “reputable” breeders. The past two cycles I’ve been popping tester seeds and they’ve been much better than what I’ve been buying in the past year.

Get you some good genetics and stop buying white label pollen chucking garbage seeds that didn’t have any type of breeding selection for vigorous growth and the likes of the old seeds we used to grow back in the early days! Photo beans are still good. It’s the ruderalis in those autos that suck man. Autos can be nice for growing off season or whatever but take any auto plant, and grow the photo version and you won’t want to grow the auto version even again.

Some gangier specialist from california went to pakistan last year and were very impressed by the vigor displayed by the local landraces… many places have ferous cannabis that is perfectly adapted to its environnment, but as we love the plants so much, we nurture them till they are spoiled brats and then reproduce just that, very good smoke that is very well adapted to very nice conditions and that enventualy causes degeneration to the point that even our super nice growing conditions are not good enough, like spoiled children complain without realizing they have all they need. It could be said that it is up to breeders to make sure they know what real cannabis should be able to withstand and not just release the best trichome growing organism, just like parents will raise their kid to withstand what they think is reasonable, but not always at par with real life.
So whats next; i must bring up an idea that bounced around my head yesterday, hopefully as legalisation progresses, the clone market will replace a big part of the feminized seed market, because of some factors like better availability, quality and diversity, but autoflows are not clonable…anyways the bottle neck effect is being felt, but at the same time we have more and more labs and grows to keep true breeding cannabis alive, problem might be the lack of interest for breeding in higher education with the availability of gene editing, its so sad to see that a plant that is so adaptogenic and so willing to produce 30 000 phenotypes and 250 000 medical profiles is being pirated and shorted of its potencial by heady humans with a self imbued love for cannabis… ok nuff barfing, have a nice day you alls. -Brice.
