Grafting perennials makes sense. Grafting annuals makes far less sense. Time is money.

Point taken. Might be useful where plant count is an issue and you want multiple, different strains from one plant?

Don’t think you realize how time consuming and unnecessary the process is. I’ve done grafting with many trees like avocados. There is a very good reason no one does this with cannabis. It’s a good idea on paper, but that’s it. This is a fairly common question new cannabis growers have when they first hear about grafting. As far as plant counts are concerned, they’re for law abiding citizens that have never done anything for this plant.

It may sound harsh, but he’s right. Tell me this: If they made growing illegal again, would you stop growing it? I wouldn’t. This is my medicine, and I don’t trust Big pharma or CorpoWeed to actually get it right for me. Do you?

I had posted something on this topic when I heard Scotty mention it on one of his videos. I had did it several times for a year. Taking 2 plants from 1 gallon pots joining them together with tape then into 10 gallon pots . The results worked fine. There was a 30/40% yield increase!! So for a little upfront work my test was a success for roughly 20 plants.

Also the legal issue 1 plant. Once joined one root ball.

I’m trying to harvest as quick as I can, grafting adds so much time and effort and new failpoints, into a process that should be smooth and efficient.

I think you’ll start to see this as the growing market matures. I don’t know how viable it is to graft on old growth.<div>

I’ve seen a lot of grafted tomatoes finally hit the home grower in recent years.

If they find a root stock that thrives in DWC and allows for more salt tolerance… If the data supports it, why wouldn’t they graft? No data?

Or, do they just choose to grow a different but equally profitable strain?

What if you grafted a dwarfy bush plant on a super feeder stretch rootstock?

A PM resistant root stock could help the Dude in his grow … @scottyreal do you have any insight on this?

Mold resistance has more to do with bud structure, not root structure.

Cannabis and Hops are closely related. Graft the cannabis onto the Hops vine.

I’ve never seen this done; only heard about it.

Only thing I could think of would be to graft like 4 types of plants together to sell as a multi strain, mother that is only 1 plant. Probably a really niche market but you could charge a hell of a premium I bet lol. Been growing and smoking before the government gave us permission. I’ll be growing and smoking even if they changed their minds again tomorrow…
