Hello my fellow green friends! Im hoping for some guidance from someone more experienced. I have a girl in about the second week of flower, some of the upper leaves are showing spotting. It isnt crispy and doesnt yet seem to be damaging the leaves. The charts i have show something like this for Manganese deficiency but idk.
Here is my setup. 4×2 tent AC Infinity tent – the newest model. Fabric 5 gallon pots 1/2 Coco fiber 1/2 Fox Farms Ocean Forest. Fox Farm nutrient Trio – started half strength and followed their feeding schedule but a little lighter on the doses. My water is Tap- i let it off gas – then use FF PH down to take it from 8.8 – 9.0 to 6.5. I also use the FF organic mix sparingly every third or fourth feeding Over the last week ive had to water a gallon a day and sometimes a little more I keep my light full power 18 on 6 off My environment stays around – 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit. 55-65 RH Genetics – Night Owl – Grape Deebo – my first plant was this same strain and i made a lot of mistakes while transplanting with it so i only got about 2 ozs but it is delicious, this one smells different and is massive compared. The first time this deficiency didn’t happen, i had other problems with mobile nutrients. The only differences other than that i used all FF OF is that i was buying drinking water and using Vinegar and baking soda for PH. | feel this has to do with my tap water but not sure.

This interveinal chlorosis is the start of a magnesium deficiency. 1 tsp of Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) per gallon of water will correct your issue.

Yours looks a little different to me, at least from the few pictures. If its only the top leaves then it looks like zinc deficiency but im no expert.

Nvm, ignore me saying zinc – i was basing that off of a few pictures o have.

If this damage was just on the lower leaves I’d say pull them and don’t worry if the new growth looked healthy. I’m seeing random damage all over the plant on the tips of the leaves leading me to believe you’ve got a bit too much available nutrition. I’d back off the Fox Farm Trio nutrients. Deficiencies can easily be corrected in soil over a week or so but damaged roots from over-feeding can take weeks to recover if ever.

I usually water about a gallon, i watered two gallons with no runoff, i never get runoff but thought i could. Its getting worse for sure, a few leaves on top are tacoing now. She is still growing fast and im hopeful shell be fine but we will see.

You have a salt build up for sure if you don’t water to run off with mineralized nutrition. Every dry back concentrates minerals causing salts to form.

I saw this in my soil after i chopped the last one. I need to switch to better nutrients. Ive been watering daily so it hasn’t gotten very dry but should i flush? Ive heard so many different things about flushing so ive never done it. By flush i mean watering like 2x the size of the container of water.

I watered to runoff finally, my ph was 6.5 but my ppm was around 800. I mixed half distilled water half tap and did a light flush. Fingers crossed 🤞🏿 thanks for your help man!

Can I ask why you mix the coco coir with the fox farm ocean forest? I think either coco coir or ocean forest would work better separately than mixed together like that but I don’t know for certain because I never really tried them mixed together? I either use coco coir or any type of ProMix or Fox Farm potting soil with Salt based nutrients!

it was out of necessity. I recently lost my job and I have limited resources. The other two plants i have in veg are perlite and coco alone.

Also this is only my third plant. The first two where in FF OF alone and the one in the mix will probably produce 6X the amount of flower. That could be due to other things as well but up until now it worked great. I think my problem is over doing the nutrients as my plant got thirstier.

Are you adjusting your Ph before or after you add the nutrients?

Before, i usually let my water off gas then add ph down and its usually around 6.5-6.8. After i add nutrients its usually a good bit lower at 5.5-6.0

Not sure if you’re in a position to collect rain water but if so it far better than any tap water ,, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do I understand that…

That has actually been my plan ultimately. My tap is pretty bad but there was an old zinc plant nearby that poisoned the ground in the area and im worried it could end up in the rainwater but i haven’t dug deeper to see if that is possible.

I want to post an update for anyone in the future. I learned a lot from this mistake. The problem got pretty bad, id say 70% of the fan leaves burnt over 35%-50% of the leaves. This was absolutely nutrient burn, nutrient fire is more like it. Almost threw the plant out. After the help i received here, she really turned around. I can’t believe how well she’s filling out despite my dumbness.
My problem was, I was basically running drain to waste without any runoff. My first two grows were all soil, and I used very low amounts of nutrients so it worked. I did a few mini flushes, got the runoff to 1000ppm. I then bought some canna coco bricks along with canna A and B, boost, and recharge.
Im now watering 1/2 gallon twice a day. Keeping the ppm around 800 in and 900 at the runoff as well as a PH around 5.5-6.0. Im using a giant oral syringe to suck out the runoff. I have perlite in the bottom of the pots but i still have some plant elevators coming to avoid them sitting in water. Its tedious but i enjoy it for now and have the time.
I feel a little silly but this is how you learn and im grateful for the lesson. Also just sprouted a Strawberry Milk & Qookies in the canna coco and am confident she will be fire. Thanks DGC friends! Grow!
