    Hello all!

I just have a question. I have a plant that hermed on me and I got seeds. I started smoking in the 90s so seeds isn’t a big deal for me. The question I have is I want to grow these seeds because the seed for this strain is sold out. I read somewhere if I defoliate the bottom of the plants you have less of a chance of herming. Is this just made up or is it something to this? I’m growing out the beans so I’ll report back. Thanks!!

Removing the lower foliage would help to reduce humidity and increase airflow, but won’t reduce the chance of a plant expressing male. Herm can be caused by stress, but in photoperiod plants it’s usually more likely due to genetic disposition imo.

Intersex traits are 100% genetic that can be induced by environmental conditions. The environment doesn’t cause the traits, they were always there.

Herming is a genetic trait, so what you have are basically S1 seeds. Good, but may also herm based on what you wrote. Hopefully you can breed that out. People freak out about herms, but if there’s no other source of those genetics, I say go for it. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

The seeds may have recessive or dominant intersex traits. There are no guarantees either way. If it’s in the mom, it’s in the babies. That being said, it doesn’t mean you can’t find something stable enough in the seeds to grow without seeing intersex traits. Never intentionally breed with any of those seeds in the future though.

    I do hate Hermies.

I got some Pink Apple Punch seeds in a seed giveaway, and every one of the hermed.
