Removing new growth?

    Hey growmies!

I have a 10ft tall sativa dom lady that is in bloom to late bloom. Should I be removing new growth and larfy buds to fatten up the top colas, or should I just let her do her thing?

I started her from unkown-origin bag seed in mid March, up-potted to a 10 gallon pot in May (compost/coco/perlite mix) and she went into bloom at the start of August. This is only my second grow and I don’t have any details on the genetics, other than she is sativa-leaning, and I’m not sure how long it will be until she’s ready to harvest. She looks like she has more bud fattening to do, although the top cola is getting on for the length of my forearm.

I would remove any growth about 2 feet above the soil so you have some airflow at the bottom. Depending on how wide the side branching is, you may want to remove some of the inside growth on the lower branches not getting good light. Remove anything not getting good light.

Thanks 👍🙂 I did that a month ago (no sarcasm intended) because I thought it might help stunt her a bit

At the moment, new buds are shooting all over the place and I don’t think she has long (maybe a month?) until harvest. Should I take them off or just leave them?

Removing lower growth will not stunt the plant but make the tops grow faster. To slow overall growth of a plant is to allow all the undergrowth to exist until you want the plant to take off by removing it all.

It’s going to depend on a few different things

Did you do any training or is it growing all natural Christmas tree style

Also depending on your location the type of weather you have not every place has that perfect growing weather.

For me with crazy humidity and temp swings I find that smaller buds have less problems compared to them big donkey dick collas. So even if i Christmas treed them I’ll leave them mid branch flower sets I’d rather have a mixed bag of small to medium sized nuggs than a few chokers. It’s easier to lose a few fingers than an arm if there is a problem!

The way in which you intend to harvest can factor in as well your not going to whole hang a 10 footer since you have to chop it in pieces you can take the growers cut off the top and let the the smaller stuff go another week, weather depended of course and as always defol and remove flower sites for proper air flow for your climate first and foremost but you still have at least 5 weeks of growing left I’d say hopefully your still in your weather window for harvesting

I’ll leave you with that food for thought
