Hey everyone I just got back from being out of town for 4 days and I noticed a yellowing on the leaves of two of my plants. Ive been growing for a while but have never seen this. the plants are 19 days old. these are all superskunk autos. I wanted to get some input before I treat all 3 of them.
each plant is in 3 gal of buffered coco 1 gal of perlite and 1 gallon of manure enriched potting mix because I ran thin on perlite and coco.
I am of two mindsets.
the first being its yellow leaf spot
-Clear yellow circles
-Appears to be traveling with the wind
-Coco has had grass growing in it on two other grows, leads me to believe it is not sterile mediumThe second is nitrogen deficiency
-Yellowing leaves
-plants all have 3 gallon of coco, 1 gallon of manure enriched potting mix, and 1 gallon of perilite
-have only been fed Ph’d water at 6.5 with no nutrients

I’m Absolutely no Auto expert but I do know generally speaking they require less nutrients then photos and with what you have I don’t think you’d see a deficiency so quickly at day 19 especially with that manure as long as it is of any quality. All that to say I’d be very suspicious of “buffered” coco. I’ve had coco supposedly grow on plantations nowhere near the ocean and they still have issues. Cal mag is almost always a go to as long as your keeping up with the pH levels through 6.5 watering. I had a GG4 and Gold Leaf from ILGM that both threw a total BF when they went to flower. I corrected it with cal mag but not every watering. I’d say twice a week maybe 3 or 4 initially to sort it out quick and again the two a week should be enough to correct it without giving it a “CalMag” taste. I’m not speaking from experience with the calmag taste but I’d guard from fairly reliable sources it’s a thing. Hope this helps

I buffered this coco myself twice for 12 hours each bath after learning it was not buffered. normally I would be watering with cal-mag which is likely why I am not seeing this issue so I will start adding it and monitor the results. thanks for the input I wouldnt have thought about it being a cal-mag issue. that would explain the issue on the other plant as well same genetics and just the luck of the draw for the plant.
I have a sour diesel in my 2×2 same age and mix it has no issues but the last time I grew that was over a year ago and I didn’t even use cal mag 😅

Your plant is not needing any supplemental calcium or magnesium. This damage to the lower leaves is not even a nitrogen issue. That splotching is caused by physical damage to the roots. Probably from under watering. Quick pH swings can also cause this type of root stress. All that matters is new growth is healthy. Remove the damaged lower leaves and act like it never happened.
