Anyone sterilize their tent and plants with a UV light?

Hello, found a new 24″ UV sanitizing light at a garage sale for $5 so I grabbed it. Currently it only works facing down because it has a safety gravity switch and I am currently trying to bypass that so I can hit the undersides of the leaves with it, maybe once a week? Trying to kill any bugs or spores. It’s meant for sterilizing baby cribs and toys would it harm my plants? There was a Canadian grower I used to follow on Youtube that would do this at night in a zip up suit with eyes and skin covered but I don’t know what light he used.

Even if I can’t get the switch bypassed I figure it’s a good light to use on the top of the soil and maybe cleaning the tent between grows, it just sucks that I can’t turn it past 45 degrees.

Yes I realize the purpose of the gravity switch, anyone know how to bypass it? I think it’s a little black can looking sensor on the board. Maybe I can de-solder the can and run a jumper?

    Thanks

  • I would not mess with it . if it is UV-c it will kill everything you point it at including your skin sells.

  • Some pest like aphids, thrips, even powdery mildew glow under uv. It is a common practice to use them to spot these things. The amount of uv-c needed to control pest will affect your plant.

  • Check out my post from yesterday….🤘🏼

  • Thanks everyone, it’s a verilux wand and it is UV-c so I don’t think I will use it, to ebay she goes

  • You can radiate your tent between runs but not your plants. UVC kills life.

  • I use hydrogen peroxide it kills mold mildew pathogens doesn’t harm plants and a insecticide if mixed right

  • I got a cheap ozone generator. When I clean i take everything alive out then run it for a hour or so. They do make ozone meters. It will kill plants.

I run it outside my lung room in the basement fairly regular. That’s part of my ipm. I also use it to freshen old filters.
