    I never heard about this, but if female plants are capable of triggering this survival mechanism, shouldnt then male plants also be able to do this?

    and i dont talk about “usefull” or “worth it” in terms of smoking, but would it be a suiteble thing to get some seeds out of a male plant?

    i am just interested in the capability of this amazing plant we all love.
    😍🌱🧐

    Hmm. I’ve never thought about that.. I hear people say don’t pop seeds from a herm though.

    but isnt that the way they do feminized seeds? i mean by making a female plant go hermi and polinate itself?

    sorry if i am wrong 😅 i am just failing forward here^^

    if you do this with a female plant you get feminized seeds. if you do this with a male plant (and I don’t know if this is even possible, I’d guess probably) you’d get male-inized (?) seeds.

    Males are males. Females are females. Intersex plants can show both male and female parts. Males don’t turn female or vice versa. You can ‘reverse’ males and females to create feminized and masculinized seeds. No one is only making male seeds.

    What a great question. I would imagine it to be possible but I highly doubt you would get male only seeds. The male determines the sex of its offspring by either passing an Xor Y chromosome during pollination. <div>

    <div>

    Female =XX, therefore no chance of making male seeds. Even though a part of the plant may produce pollen, the plant itself genetically lacks a y chromosome to pass on, thus feminized seeds.

    Male=XY, so even if you herm the plant there is still a chance of passing the Y chromosome to the seed, making more male seeds.

    </div></div>
