GuppyGirlGeneticsParticipantAugust 7, 2024 at 7:42 pmCannabis plants need boron? Who knew? Can you just sprinkle a little Borax in the soil? Who knew that stuff was so useful? Blacksmiths use it too, as a way to help protect the metal being forged from oxidation. Is there any research on this, or on what sort of form it should take to be available if needed by the plant?

Trace elements are not something you should need to supplement. Don’t go dumping borax in your soil. Borax is a soluble salt consisting of sodium borate that needs to be diluted in water. Your plants do not need boron supplemented. It’s a trace element. Boron is plant available in the form of boric acid. Boric acid is an essential trace element required by plants (in very small amounts between 0.5-2 ppm) to aid calcium in the formation of cell walls. Boron also helps sugars move around the plant through the phloem to supply energy during reproduction. It’s very important.

I’ve used it before and followed the directions, I had great luck

To be clear, I had an actual boron deficiency. That is going to be key in the fixing of it.

Awesome. How did you know it was boron deficient? How did you fix it? I want to learn. 👍☺️

What were those direction? Also, what symptoms did the plant have that lead to discover it had a deficiency? Sounds interesting!

Lol I wish I remembered… Definitely the leaf was doing the classic symptom. I remember as soon as I looked at The leaf chart. Grow weed easy I think is the one I used to use all the time to look up symptoms. The dose was something extremely minimal. Something like a tablespoon per gallon. The biggest thing I remember about it was how quickly the symptoms went away. That’s the biggest thing I remember about boron and borax because I like Borat.
