What’s up yall, so I’m running an rs11x gorilla cookies (left) and an og (right) I’m in week 3 of veg since transplant in canna coco with dots and recharge once a week Ive noticed I’m starting to get some yellowing on my leaves and less than dark green new growth recently which I also had my last run which led to browning crunchy leaves that easily snap off and want to address it earlier this run. My water is hard around 225ppm out of the tap and I leave it out to dechlorinate and I’ve recently started cutting my water with distilled water which brings it to about 82 ppm and I ph to roughly 6.0 using phosphoric acid. Last run I tried supplementing cal mag in flower and it didn’t seem to help at all. Any and all help would be appreciated I’m going to scrog and flip in about a week or two and I’d like to get ahead of everything now. Asides from that I’ve seen very happy vigorous growth but I know veg in general/larger fan leaves can be deceptive. I appreciate yall!

Have you checked your runoff ph and ec?

    • I haven’t, usually I don’t water to run off I do about 3L in a 5 gal fabric pot last run I did check amidst the issues and it was about 1100 ppm and 6.2 ph but I definitely will if it’ll help me figure this out, 3 runs I’ve had the same issues but very minority my last one was the first real problem

        There’s your problem? Next lol

  • I dont think this is in your water. Growdots, canna coco, recharge. You cleaned your source, ph adjusted. The amount and frequently would be factors to look at yet. Light and enviroment have to match with metabolism. Temp, humidity, leaf temp and vpd, light ppfd and dli would be my next steps

  • Heard that thank you, I water roughly 3L in the og daily either at lights on or a few hours later if I’m working but I don’t let it dry back more than just a lighter coco on the surface and I’ll water whatever of that 3L I didn’t water before lights out, I do the same with about 1.5-2l of water with the rs11 because she doesn’t seem to be as thirsty. my tent as of now has averaged between 74-80° 54-68rh with the occasionally cooler start to the day around 72 and my night temps range between 68-73° and a 62-70rh with a dehumidifier running I’m giving them about 700ppfd as of now and I don’t supplement co2 or have a reader but I chill with them every night and I have 3 cats in the house at all times from the canopy I can see they seem happy generally asides from the issues I showed haven’t had anything but praying leaves which confuses me even more 😂

    • I would dim your light. Probably be happier around 350-450ppfd

  • Okay heard, thank you dude I appreciate it. it was on lower leaves as well so I wouldn’t have thought of that ahaha

  • The leaves are indicating a lack of potassium. Notice the yellowing starts around the leaf blade edge. It’s the first symptom to show when there’s a root issue typically since it’s needed by the plant in such high amounts. Damaged roots from under-watering is the most common reason it occurs.

    • Okay interesting, so I’ve been watering about 2-3 liters a day in 5 gallons of canna. I’ve heard time and time again that coco can take a lot of water but I figured since I’ve never seen any droopy or wilting leaves and since they’re usually praying that I wasn’t leaving them thirsty. Shit lol. Dumb question but how would I go about solving this? Should I up the water to about a gallon a day all at once or ramp up? And since there’s root damage should I be supplementing a bit more recharge regularly for a bit?

  • Looks like they need more phosphorus!

    • Heard, I use phosphoric acid as ph down though they’ve got a steady supply 😂

      • Could be locked out! If to much is available could cause issues.

        • Fair enough, yeah my waters 7.8 out of the tap so I need about 20 drops plus a gallon to get it where I need

          • mine is 7.8 out tap as well but i use general hydro’s ph down. I use 1 ml to 1 gallon and 1.5 ml for 2. On every other watering i dont use the ph down cause i also use general hydro nutrients and so long as its mixed right it puts the ph at 6.5 every time.

  • Definitely not phosphorus. If this is deficient it is potassium. Depends how fixed the fertilizer is. This is where the dry comes in as the ion available form needs water to be uptaken. The also goes into how hard you are driving the plant. If the roots are not uptaking as fast, vpd and transporation factor, then your light is driving them faster than the uptake, high light intensity.

  • I was having this same issue with a mother plant I’m using Coco loco I was in 3 gallon fabrics I cleaned up the bottom of the plant for some air flow repotted into a 5 gallon dusted the top with worm castings light watered with 5 ml calmag per gallon and dialed the lights back to 280-300 ppfd from 480-5 ppfd that was a few days ago and it’s seems to be bouncing back . I think it had something to do with light intensity and not drying back enough in my situation the room got a little cooler with the first cold weather hitting and the pots stayed a little heavy longer.

Until you check your runoff and ph and check caliberation on ph pen if using your just guessing. Need to make sure your nutrient uptake is the same as what your giving them and that your not getting nutrient build up lowering your ph and causing lockout. 1100 pm sounds kinda high for still being in veg. Also most growers use EC measurement rather than PPM when growing with coco.. I rarely go over 1500 EC when plants are growing there fastest..

I dont think starting with tap water that has a 7.8 ph and having to add all that ph down is doing you any favors either using coco as grow media.. I imagine your ec is probably 700 before you even add nutrient. This is why alot of coco growers use RO water.. you can get a cheap under the sink setup with fill tank for couple hundred bucks if you make that next step and not trying to break the bank..

    • That’s very true I grabbed a few gallons of distilled water for now definitely planning on getting a filter as soon as possible just eliminate that variable all together. I appreciate your help dude
