Drain to waste watering frequency

kragothParticipantNovember 13, 2025 at 5:49 amI have automated watering setup. I’m very interested in doing several small feedings a day. I heard Rob from CLTV mention 12 watering events a day.
I use a soil meter that triggers on moisture, to achieve 12 waterings, I water around 1/3 gallon between 4 pots when they reach 58% moisture content. (And I do have runoff), but I’m concerned these pots are way saturated, but then I hear this watering frequency is awesome, I see dry back but I’m looking to see if I should be concerned with this moisture level?
The alternative is to let the plants dryback more and feed more, but my frequency will reduce to 4-5 waterings a day. Rob says there is magic is the 12 watering events (terp production) with more frequent feedings. I’m using 70/30 coco/peril and the Ecowitt solution for the watering.
Thanks

High frequency fertigation has a cult following and there is great science to it. Check out the work of Dr MJ coco, he is the boss of that arena. Cannabis Grow Guide – Coco For Cannabis – Science and Practice

When it comes to irrigation, how much and often is not universal. Do not take advice from anyone based on their grow. Every plant has it’s own unique root system with varying amounts of vigor. There are many variables to consider with irrigation. Pot size, root mass, foliage density and temp/RH/VPD. Growing a living thing is not done by reading an instruction manual. It takes experimentation and experience, nothing else.
