Ebb and Flow Setup Help

Hey All, new here, but not totally new to growing. Been growing in living soil for a couple years and want to try something new.

Been thinking about setting up an Ebb and Flow table, probably a 4×4, inside a tent with rockwool blocks.

Anyone have pictures of their setups?

I know I will need a table, fittings, a pump, and reservoir obviously. Already have a full AC Infinity tent, controllers, fans, etc

    Also, nutrient recommendations?

Strain recommendations? Thinking of going SOG with a very short veg time.

    Thanks in Advance

You have options when it comes to flood and drain. Inert media like rockwool has no mineral buffer and requires a little more acidic pH (5.5-5.8). Coco fiber can also be flood and drained but does have some mineral buffer and allows for a slightly less acidic pH between 5.8-6.2. The biggest difference is mainly root mass. You can use any size pot with coco. Flood cycles (time between) can be similar but duration and depth of flood has variables. Rockwool need to be flooded as deep as possible to submerge as much of the rockwool as possible. Roots can only pull nutrition from the solution as the rockwool has no ability to hold nutrition. Coco has more variables. You can substitute depth for duration. Flood deep fast or flood shallow for longer periods allowing for capillary action to pull nutrient solution up.

my f&d systems are bucket based. the rough blueprint for them is this:

instead of tubes I have hoses and my layout differs a bit. I have 1-bucket systems and 3-bucket systems. I use the 1-bucket ones when I run different strains, the 3-bucket ones are better for 1 strain, makes it easier to feed them what they want/need. but it’s possible to run 3 strains in a 3-bucket system

If you intend to try this in a tent, make sure you have full access to 3 sides of the table and double your extraction fan size. Cause your gonna double your humidity. Especially if your rez is in the tent under the table.

Personally I wouldn’t put one in a tent.

But that’s just me. Tables work a lot better in rooms than tents.

Thank you for that info, I had taken into consideration the extra humidity produced.

I was only thinking tents because I would like to run 2 tables in a perpetual harvest situation.

Short 2 week veg from clone, and then flip to flower.

My tents are on mobile bases with casters and do unzip on 3 sides however. So pulling them away from the wall and opening them up is simple.

It won’t be that simple when you add hundreds of lbs of equipment.

I run 3x3s they require a 40 gallon rez each that’s 334 lbs. (Each in my case)

I love my tables I love growing donkey colas instead of monster plants, but if I had to do it again, I would get autopots and never look back. It’s the same style of grow without all the electronic stuff that can fail.

Smooth concrete floor and nice 3” casters on each corner. I’ve moved them with 3×3 fabric beds full of soil watered in before.

That’s my very reason for wanting to do this. I want to grow a bunch of small plants with big main colas.

Auto pots wouldn’t be financially the best move for the style of growing I want to do.
