    Couple questions for a newbie.

I currently have very limited space so im looking at a 2×2 to get started with, most likely either vivosun or mars hydro kits, will use wicking bases, coco, and either grow dots or liquid nutrients,

Question is most of the 2×2 are short, 48″, would side or under canopy lights help keep my plants from stretching as much?

With a 2×2 in mind, would you prefer 1 plant in something like a 5 gallon pot, or 4 plants in 2 or even 1 gallon pots, looking for quality over qty but don’t want to end up with a 20g harvest either.

  • If I were starting out. If i had the room 80″/1 plant 100w light 4″ exhaust w/filter/6″fan. If you add it up better to buy ac infinity AI grow system compact 2×2. $449.00 or vivosun Smart grow tent kit 2×2 $299.00 no inside fan. I would use canna cocco grow dots recharge . Makes growing easy for all. Peace and love plus luck.💚🍀

  • Additional light wont change the stretch. Day and night temps, and light spectrum can factor this. Smaller tents need smaller equipment. Run 1 to 3 gallon planter, keeping small root zones will help plants stay smaller.

  • Just bypass tents that are less than 60″.

The short tents are great for seedlings, herbs, or short term plant isolation (e.g. I have a 2x2x48 in my garage for isolating males), or but as far as flowering cannabis goes, a short tent is just an exercise in frustration. Spend the extra $ and get a tent with a proper height, and I’d suggest at least a 2×4 so you can flower more than 1 plant.

  • I’m in the same boat & went with a 2×4. If you are truly limited AC Infinity offers a 2x2x6 that would be just fine for one plant with plenty of room for most plants to stretch with proper training. SIP bases are a game changer and there are a ton of options that would work.

  • Also, sticking to one plant for a first run would be my advice. It will give you a singular focus & the ability to dial in your environment/SOP/feeding schedule etc. while planning your next run, & make it easier to diagnose any issues. Trust me, you’ll be surprised how much you can get off a single dialed in plant.

This is just friendly advice from someone who just spent a year trying to dial in the perfect apartment grow.

  • What’s up hambone! I have a friend from college we used to call Hambone….lol. So, 2×2 tents….not impossible but certainly makes it challenging. You’ll want to put everything u can outside of the tent….exhaust fan, humidifier, heater. Hang your light up as high as possible. Search for short/squat phenotypes when looking for seeds (or clones depending on your locale.) I’d recommend topping at the 4th node and training all the lateral branches out horizontally. Flip sooner than later for photos. Have some training clips handy as you’ll probably need to train the branches 90* if they get too close to the light. Also! As a different option Vivosun has their new grow boxes for sale on Amazon. Maybe not exactly what you’re looking for…but if u can make some concessions, everything’s included in a small footprint.

Might take you a few runs to get your style down…but it’s certainly doable! Let us know how it goes! You’ve peaked my interest! Lol

  • Thanks guys, all good info, my biggest hurdle right now is space, I am in the process of remodeling our home and I just don’t have the extra room, once finished I will have a dedicated lung room “bedroom” and plan to expand bigger, but don’t want to wait a year + to get started, figure this way I can find out if this is for me or not, before I get to that point.

    • Hell, then. Definitely doable. There are 6′ tall 2×2 tents out there pretty cheap, or like someone else mentioned, grab a VGrow couple of their accessories & go to town.

Welcome to the obsession, and the worm-hole your probably diving into right now!

      It sure is fine!
