So can you leave old Grow Dots in soil mix for a new plant?… had to cut a male out and left the root bulb… gonna try an auto in its spot (outdoors). any tips?

  • I did pretty much the same thing, had some soil with grow dots in it left from a hermie plant, threw it in an outdoor pot and stuck an auto in it and just stuck it outside and it’s not doing so great, not horrible but definitely has nutrient issues, leaves are crispy and all I’ve done is give it recharge and ph water when it’s not getting enough rain. I wouldn’t recommend re-using the soil with dots left in it unless the grow completed then I wouldn’t worry so much about it.

  • well it got about 4 months old..just started flower when i noticed it.

  • Once Grow Dots have stopped releasing minerals there will still be empty shells left behind that will eventually break down. There is no nutrition left in those shells and the media can be reused with other nutrients or reamended with more Grow Dots for another cycle.

    • sweet thx!

    • Yes Sir!

    • But if they are timed release and good for, say, 14 weeks (arbitrary number) and you stop a grow mid run like was described (say 7 weeks- it’s a male and you chop it), that would mean that there are “dots” that haven’t released yet? right? if you full dose more growdots and drop in a new plant, could that cause nutrients issues?

      • I wouldn’t be too concerned but I wouldn’t make a habit of growing possible males with full cycle nutrition. Better planning is required.

  • I grow with coco and grow dots! Amazing results. I re use my coco with the grow dots in it. The dots you see are just shells. No nutrients inside! Hope this helps

    • ahh I used happy frog soil and grow dots then move em outside..gonna try indoors sometime..maybe coco would work indoors better?

  • Grow Dots last for approximately 14 weeks, and they do not disintegrate in water, it’s temperature that breaks them down. 😉

    • Water is also required for release of course. They don’t release based on temp alone or they’d release in a hot bag.
