Just Got My Indoor Grow Tent Need Help With A Few Questions

First off I live in a state that isn’t legal, so if I need anything from flower to whatever it is I have the option to either go to Minnesota, Missouri, Illinois. It is getting very costly so I have been following the guys on you tube and made the choice to hook up with the community.

Here it is, unfortunately before joining this community, had already purchase a grow tent kit from bud growers it is the deluxe soil kit bundle. So as of right now I will be stuck with this setup until i can replenish funds. I know you guys recommend AC Infinity which I will look at later when funds get built up

So here it is and like i said I am newbie like a baby when it comes to this, so here it is!!!! I purchased some seeds and got the Northern Light #.2 seeds which has 10 seeds in the pack .

I also purchased seeds from another company got some Harlequin ,Bubba Kush, and Blue Dream.

Here is my question: When the seeds are ready to be planted, how many seeds should i put in the grow container? The grow tent is 2’x 2’x 72″ and this kit came with 3 grow pots.

So here is my other question, the Harlequin, Bubba Kush and Blue Dream are autoflower seeds. I think each tube has 10 seeds in each tube.

The other seeds are regular seeds and may contain male and female plants i think i am saying that right, do i need to germinate all of these seeds or can i just do half of them.

I am only one using the flower and is primarily for severe arthritis and pain!!!

So any help would be greatly appreciated!!! I have already spent quite a bit on all the gear and seeds and hope with the knowledge the folks have here can lead in the right area, and keep me from running down to very HIGH PRICED FLOWER

  • well you can do it a couple of ways

first off (who cares ) about what type it is , get some grows in first

that is a small tent but very manageable

i personally would do one plant , lst her (feminized seed)

fill the space and have a huge outcome ,

but some would do all three and not lst and just tend them, either way with love light and nutes you can have a bumper crop

    GRO wt FLO!!!!!

  • Hi, if this is your first grow focus on basics. Deciding on what grow medium you will use drives much of the conversation. I would germinate one seed, plant it in a commercially available soil (something like Fox Farm) , hand water, and focus on light, temp, and rh. Once you grow one, things will be much clearer and you can work on issues as they arise. Just my .02.

  • I am also just starting out. I got exited and may have sprouted too many seeds over a three week period, but I assume that I will kill a few as I learn.

I think it was smokythebear that told me to be patient just a few days ago and that is solid advice. It seems that as they grow, so does their ability to grow, and when things are close to right you can see the difference in photos taken maybe 12 hours apart.

I say just watch the videos and jump in and learn, you will like it. I wish that I would have started this hobby a long time ago, but it is a big step, for I too live in a land of prohibition.

    • thanks numb

      we are all here to.help

      I hope.lol

check out my strawberry 3×3 tent

      • Looking great!!! I’ll get there one day.

Each week I can see them growing faster and that does help with the patience, lol. I am sure that once I get through a cycle and have some cured up, my patience will improve as well

I was topping yesterday and this one was not quite long enough to get the whole thing, so I thought, why not give the FIM a try? Can’t hurt. 24 hours later, I think I may have three coming along.

    • With a 2×2 tent you really only have the space to grow one plant at a time. (Unless you wanted to do something like a solo cup sea-of-green.)
    • Reg seeds have about a 50/50 chance on a seed being female. You may want to plant more than one, but that also means you may have to cull a plant if you get more than one female.
(There are ways to sex test seedling plants. Farmer Freeman, if you can afford to pay $15 per test. I have also heard that if you give a seedling with about 3 nodes 72 hours of darkness, it will produce sex indicators within 3 weeks, but won’t go into flower being too young. I have not tried this myself, yet.)
    • Autoflowers are a good option for your situation, in my opinion. They are nigh universally feminized seeds, so no males. They tend to be smaller plants that do well with little or no training. No worries about light leaks, when to flip to flower, or staying out of the tent during the dark period. You can also run an 18/6 or even 24/0 hour light cycle for the entire life of the plant.

With a single small tent you are somewhat limited to running one plant from seed to jar. If I was in your situation, I’d run autos and follow the instructions on whatever nutes you have to feed them. Meanwhile, I’d hit up the video platforms and watch all the grow content I could, to learn more about autos, reg seeds, fem seeds, growing, drying!!!, curing!!!, everything.

I steer all new growers to the Strain Show channel on YouTube. He has a beginner grower series that is fantastic. (I think he has edited his beginner playlist into a single video with some updated content, but the original playlist is also still available.)

  • welcome to the DGC that awesome you are starting you growing journey. now for a tent that size I would run one plant this gives you space without overcrowding. and I would normally say grow a photo but in your case and starting out I think and auto would be great for your set up not changing lights nothing just growing. now being in a not legal state I hope that tent came with a carbon flitter. besides that you are probably set I would order if you are comfortable with it scotty simpler it good for one 5 gallon but will take all the guess work out of feeding. so congratulations on the new grow tent, happy growing!!

  • As a new grower myself with that size tent I would start with one of the autos and get started. Once started absorb as much quality! content as you can. So far growing has been fairly easy, and most mistakes can be quickly corrected with the knowledge available here in the DGC. So once you got a solid base of grow knowledge and understanding of the lifecycle of the plant focus attention to the drying and curing process this is where I encountered the most stress while growing so far, I had poor drying conditions but made through. I just joined in May with almost no knowledge of growing this plant and have had a successful outdoor harvest and am nearing the end of my first kinda successful tent grow, I stunted mine by over training and not enough larf trim in early flower so my canopy is over crowded but I can vouch for the community here, they will get you growing and help you through every step of the way if you need it.

Good luck on whichever route you go and may your buds be big and plentiful.

  • So, you have your own field of dreams. Slow down and enjoy.

Autos may be a challenge, and regular seeds can take up your time.

Plant a couple/3 of photoperiod feminized seeds in potting soil in 16-ounce drink cups with holes punched in the bottom. Soak the soil and don’t water again until the plant has 3 nodes. Put the cups somewhere you can see them, warmish and with constant light. Pinch the top off (the 4th or 5th node) when you do your 2nd watering.

Wait until the cups feel almost weightless. Transplant to a 1-gallon pot. These pots can go into your tent.

    Good Luck!
