Keep the mother or not?

    Hey there,

some time ago i asked here for some help to keep my tiny plant alive.

Well, its still alive and ive got some cute little clones from her now. (thanks btw ^^ )

But i am not the super gardener and i am kind of worried if i can keep her alive for long enugh, to bring a clone to a regular harvest.

And the point here is that its a plant from a random seed, kind of my personal unicorn, and i dont even know how it will perform in flower yet. maybe it will be shit, but its something personal… 😍

Another thing is that my tent is small, and i am not allowed to have more then 3 plants at the same time anyway, while clones are something different…german burocrazy…

but anyway, do you guys and girls have some tipps about that?

can i expect a usable example from a rather small clone to speed it up a bit? just to try out if its worth continung the strain?

or should i just flip the mother into flower when i am shure to have enugh healthy clones prepared and growing to keep the line going?

any tipps to keep her alive for longer with limited space in the tent maybe?

    😅

Long term genetic viability that’s keeps a plant’s desirable phenotypic expressions like structure requires you keep it healthy it’s whole life. Doesn’t need to be a long life. The most important variable to understand is root health. Root health is plant health. Never let a mother plant get even close to rootbound before replacing. Rootbound plants lose all structure and new growth will not gain stem girth but instead form thin and wispy. Base a mother plant’s life span on it’s pot size. New clone mothers should be placed directly into their final pot so their roots are never confined in a small pot before needing to transplant into a larger pot. Limit root space and you’ll limit structure. 1 gallon of media per month the plant is alive is a safe place to start. I’ll grow in 3 or 5 gallon pots depending on how much space I have and how long I want to grow them. A mother will live for 3 months in the 3 gallon pot and a mother would live up to 5 months in a 5 gallon pot. Never wait until you need to replace your mother plants before making their replacement clones. A mother in a 3 gallon pot would have it’s replacement taken from it at around 2 months old at peak health. Root and veg them for a few weeks until they become viable mothers before killing the old mother. Before I kill the old mother I want a viable replacement mother plant that can give me clones so my perpetual cycle never ends. Rinse and repeat forever. Give them food and light based on how fast you want them to grow. More light/food will cause them to grow fast and maybe faster than you need and will have to constantly prune them back. Good for when you need clones in a hurry but if you don’t go ahead and give them a little less light/food and save yourself some time/money/work.

@jmystro Any chance you could get Banner, Grambo or Scotty to make a narrated, AI video of the article in the link, please? Some people are visual and/or aural learners. Regardless, a million thank yous for everything you give to the DGC ❤️

There is a ton of software for reading text pages. I do not consent to AI stealing my knowledge.
