I saw a video yesterday where the grower, instead of normal topping or FIMing, just plucked off the first fan leaf for each top’s newest branch.

Does anyone else do this?

Defoliation is not topping.

Oh, I see. Thanks. I just watched it again. He was defoliating the newest tops to slow down the tops’ stretching to give the lower branches a chance to catch up.
