RO water/UVC light

So I recently bought a RO filtration setup but it takes like an hour and a half to get 5 gallons of water off of it and I have a tote that I’ve been storing water in so it’s available when I need it. Should I be getting a UVC light to drop in it to keep bad things from forming in my water or is that just a waste of money?

I would just keep it dark and cool inside the tote and clean it out every week or two.

UV lights work though, it’s not a waste of money, just not 100% necessary.

The slow rate is normal for RO. It would take me more than a day to fill my 50 gal res. I used a black tote with the yellow lid right next to my plants under light. I never had algae or life form. I would have it sit for up to a week. A uv sterilizer will give you that guarantee though.

Not sure what setup you got but I got a cheap under the sink RO setup off Amazon that came with a 5 gallon reserve tank.. different sizes were optional.. also the 5 gallon really only holds about 4 gallons..

Maybe just drop a airstone in there to prevent stagnation if you’re storing it long.
