P_T_BurnumParticipantAugust 10, 2025 at 7:51 am2 more girls popped their little heads up last night. Question is…… how long do you leave the humidity dome over your seedling. I planted directly into the 5 gallon buckets they will be spending their lives in. Thanks All!!!!

I remove after this point do to dampening off. I like to let that surface dry and mist the leaves to replace humidity. Although leaving them on wont hurt as long as vent holes are in the dome. I have seen people dome them up to 4 sets of leaves. Suface moisture and base of stem are areas to watch. The stem base at soil surface will darken and get weak, skinny looking if they or to wet.

I’ve stopped using a dome for seedlings. It seems to just make them stretch more looking for brighter light. Though I am not in an arid climate. I would however suggest pulling the dome now as already mentioned. Unless you are in a very dry climate I don’t believe the seedlings actually need the dome. I now only use mine for clones.
This however is just my opinion and based on my limited experience. I am fairly new as well and have only run a dozen or so plants thus far.

Veg room conditions should be around 80-84F with 60-65%RH. Never put a seedling in a humidity dome because it’s not a cutting without roots. Clones go in a dome, not seedlings. High humidity can cause mold and kill the seedling. If your veg room environment is not ideal, fix it.

I don’t have a veg room. I do use my lighted ACI dome on seedlings but I offset the top and open all vents. I’m probably successful because I’m in the 80/60 range on the hydrometer.
