So new to growing that this is the first time I’ve seen a live plant.

Culver-CreekParticipantApril 10, 2025 at 1:20 pmI have been a purchase guy and never in the grow scene. Now when I say I am new to the growing I am REALLY new…lol. I have two questions and I’m going to lump them in this one topic so I’m not loading the board with topics like this.
#1. White Widow auto. It’s been just over a week of flower (best I can tell) and was wondering if the more experienced folks think this is on par with how the flowers should look? I am really enjoying this but it’s kind of like doing a jigsaw puzzle without the cover picture. I have been scouring the internet looking at time lapse video and photos trying to gauge it but, as I am sure you all know, there is such a wide array of how the strains grow and look and I am at a loss. They look healthy to me but I’m looking for a consensus.
#2. I was given some Bruce Banner seeds, photos, wasn’t told until after they were sprouted that they were regular seed and not feminized. I have two right now. They are 3-1/2 weeks old. how long do I have to wait until I can start to see signs of sex. I have been scouring the two I have up and down with my loop but can’t find any indication. Part B to this. I have 6 weeks before these go into the ground outside. Any ideas on slowing them down? I can’t imagine how big they are going to look in another month and a half.
As always, great info from this community.

It looks like your doing a great job so far. The flowers look good, maybe more than a week in. Don’t lose any sleep comparing progression to others. All plants grow slightly differently, just hold the course and you’ll be rewarded.
Sex will start to show about the time you see new branches alternating instead of sprouting as a pair. I’ve heard around 6 weeks. I’m sure you’ve found pics online, look for little white hairs at the node for females. Balls/pollen sacks for males.
They look healthy and green so if you’re feeding and watering well they will be pretty big by the time you put them outside. Topping and LST are good ways to manage height and shape but I would advise against doing anything to intentionally slow them down.
Welcome to your new hobby. I think you’re going to do well.

Thanks Melonfarmer.
It could be more than a week. I’m going by when I certainly noticed something different. First time seeing a live bud…lol
The Bruce Banners I already topped them prior to that pic. If I take the big fans off, would it slow them at all? I’m running all autoflowers in the autopots . I was running 20/4hours in the tent but when found I was going to have to move the BB’s in, I changed to 19/5 then 18/6 before I did. These are growing much faster than the autos did.

Yeah I suppose that would slow them down, not sure by how much. I’m more of a vibe guy than a direct fact guy, haha. For straight shooting FACTS maybe tag jmystro.
