rustybudzParticipantJuly 23, 2025 at 8:49 pmSo i had just transplanted this chocolate chunk auto into a 7 gal last week from a 3 gallon pot…. So should i kick her into a 20 gal and see what she does or let her ride??! Let me know grow fam!!! This thing has been insane to watch as opposed to Oregon diesel that couple weeks out from harvest all sprouted same day

I’m no auto expert but it seems it’s still vegging. Up-potting once taproot has hit bottom can stunt the plant. Hopefully someone else will chime in. I grow predominantly photos. If it were me I’d leave it in the 7.

Hey!!! Thanks for the input!!! I’ve grown for years just not autos myself as well!! So all this has been a cool science project to see how different these seeds grow and develop. They sure grow fast though makes it fun to watch!! Anyway 😆 I would think it would just let it veg longer before flowering🤷🏻♂️ I’m not in a hurry for buds as the diesel is 2 weeks or so out from harvest. My other chocolate chunk is in like week 2 of flower, I had transplanted this bush a week ago and it has just been taking off not missing a beat other than the warm days in the tent during the day. But noticed the roots are already to the bottom. So I was just curious if a bigger pot would keep her veggie a bit longer till the diesel is done at least lol. Also it’s another 8-9weeks of flower whenever she decides she wants to do that As they say more roots more fruits I have a greenhouse with a extra 150w sun blaze hps light if she outgrows my 3×3 tent 😂

I’d be curious what your root ball looked like in the 20 gallon when you are done. I suspect it won’t have time to fully take advantage of the space, which could mean wasted materials (soil, nutrients) and time spent watering. It can be done, but I don’t imagine that being the most efficient sized pot for an auto. Check your root ball and find out :)

Sticking with the 7 gallon will give great results. Transplanting an auto once is risky, a second larger attempt could carry the same if not more risk. They fill out great in 7 gallon, was my go to size for a few years. And chad westport has a great point, never be able to utilize the root space in time.

This thing has been vegging for 7weeks and two days now. Maybe….just now transitioning to flower I had started in three gallon then showed signs of needing more room and wanted to go so I transplanted into a 7 gallon not this Thursday but last Thursday and she has already filled the 7 gallon completely with roots!! She’s not missing a beat if any auto is to prove any of the theory’s people have of transplanting autos wrong this is it!! lol same strain same seed pack, and growing right next to her started flowering at 30 days and the Oregon diesel started at 25 days yet she just veggie away like no bigs yo just keep my roots with enough room and I’m golden. All the autos popped the same day June 5th 🤷🏻♂️ “SCIENCE”we will see how she does in the 20 gallon 🤓🧐😎 also that way I can get some fastbuds strawberry gorilla auto and gorilla z auto started for next run in tent. The bush will be moved to greenhouse with extra 150w sunblaze hps
