I’m preparing for my first grow. One thing that I don’t see talked about is what about the lights out hours? What temp, humidity, etc. do we need during those times? Should I keep fans running? My tent will be in my basement here in Minnesota.

I honestly have not thought much about this. My grow room generally gets down to 69 F at the lowest but i try to keep the humidity around 60 65 at all times and the fan never stops running.

From everything that I’ve seen or read, there shouldn’t be very much difference. There will be some, but shouldn’t be a lot. Definitely keep a good air exchange.

When my lights go off temps drop from 85 to 75. That’s really the only difference for me. My humidifier is set at 65 but with the exhaust fans running 24/7 it holds around 55 all the time. Maybe a little spike but not enough to shut the humidifier off. Those numbers are for my big tent with autos vegging. My 2×4 is basically the same but it’s in flower @45%. I don’t have a need for a dehumidifier, it’s usually pretty dry here. You might need one for the basement though..

Mines in the basement and I’m neighboring you to the west. My regular space heater swings too much. I’m picking up the ACI heater. Granted the lowest my basement has gotten is 58 with the cold spurts we have had this week. Remember, if you’re comfortable your plants are comfortable.

I’ve heard of people experimenting with o2 supplementation during the dark period. I’m not sure if their findings.

I am in central MN with a 2 tent setup, unfinished basement. One tent has the thermoforge holding 74 at night, other tent has no heat resource and has sat anywhere from 69-72 at night the last couple months. Both have fans running 24/7 (light breeze) and the plants are showing good growth, week 4 veg.

Bugbee does have videos on this exact thing. It’s temperature Delta I believe he calls it. The main thing is you need good air movement at all times. That’s the best insurance. I’m also a basement grower in MN but my basement is finished and I have really good control as far as temps go. What I struggle with is how damn dry out gets here in the winter. 15 percent relative humidity at negative 20 degrees fahrenheit is really really really dry when you heat that air up to 80 degrees! As your temps go down after you lights go off, you’ll need the humidity to go down as well. If your plant temp is playing with the Dew point you will get bud rot unless you’re just growing light airy autos…

Thank you for all the replies. I’m just gathering all my stuff. I purchased a 4×4 and I’m waiting for my ACI inline fan and controller to arrive. My basement is about 70 degrees today and at 35% humidity atm. I’m trying to figure out if I want to put the driver for my lights inside the tent to hopefully boost the temperature in there. Does it make much difference on where I put the inline fan. I have room to put it outside of the tent if I want to keep the space. Not sure yet what to do. My light is large it’s a Grand Master 4×4 tarantula. So it goes to each end of the tent.

I ordered seeds from Humboldt and Kannabia. So hopefully I can avoid the virus. I’m now deciding on soil. So many decisions.

I have my driver inside the 3×3 and it holds 77deg at 50/60% power.

Most plants will perform best with a stable environment day and night with little to no difference.

My temps only flucuate about 5degrees when my light goes out. Near the end of flower I let em go up to ten degrees cooler at lights out. Seems to bring out more color.
