That is foxtailing probably caused by heat. Can also occur when a plant is ran to long but chocolate thai is a 12 week strain so I doubt that is the reason.
Holy foxtails batman! I’ve never seen them that big! I have a plant doing this atm, not as bad, but as an experiment I snipped the top off one of the buds and it did seem to fatten up the flower beneath. I snipped the one on the right.
I’m not sure what light your using but if I was to guess I would say HPS or fluorescent. You definitely are going to need more ventilation to remove the heat. Good luck.
Are you replying to me Burny? It’s hard to tell on this thread. I’m using LED and the temps don’t really go above 28c (82f) and the leaf surface is always 2 or 3c below the air temp according to my laser thermometer.
Do they look heat streased to you? I’ve had some issues with Blumats not keeping the bed evenly moist so I’ve had some leaf damage from dry spots.
They’re supposed to come down in a week or two. It’s only the main tops that have the foxtailing, everything below looks normal.
Hi Melonfarmer ya I was talking to you, sorry I’m bad at social media. Haha. I’ve never seen foxtailing on lower branches. I’ve only ever seen them at tops from using inefficient lights that cause too much heat. Maybe it’s a genetic trait as well.
All good brother. It might be me that’s bad at social media haha.
It’s just on the tops, and only the one cultivar, Romberry. The other plant, Blue Cheese, looks fine and I’ve run it before and had the same thing happen. I think it is mainly genetics in this case.
It’s ugly but I love the smells that come off it. I might pop a few more seeds and look through to try and find one with the same smells but better growth.
Well I learned something it does appear to be a genetic trait as well. I still recommend clipping them because as you saw it help the main bud fatten up. Check out this article on foxtailing. Cheers.

Nice one, thanks dude. Yeah it was like topping a plant, the growth pushed outwards instead of upwards. I recommended the OP do the same thing, though it might be a bit late to get the full benefit on this run. Cheers Burny.
