Hey dgc im switching media. What do i need to do before i use in transplant. Do i need to wash this stuff first. I hear people using it without doing that. Ill be using cal mag every water and feed

Im pretty sure that one is labled ready to use. I’m not sure if that means just washed or if it is buffered with cal mag as well. I’m interested in more replies. I would assume if it had cal mag added, it would say that in the bag. I use bricks of “buffered” coco from Home Depot. I buffer it with double label rate of cal mag before planting.

It’s all coming together! Check out my grow room so far! Tomorrow we start putting up wall to wall sections of mylar and then we start installing airlocks. Lastly for the first round will be installing the carbon exhaust filter.
Round two, likely next week, will consist of getting rid of the bed to move my office down into this space as well,…

I like the bed next to the plants. I get it. Probably easier to check on em every ten minutes when they are seedlings. I just put the crib and baby monitor I bought on Craigslist. Learning to leave em the f alone…

I have two before and after pics. One is before LST and after LST shot. The 2nd is my Monstera Adansonii that I’m on a recovery mission with.

What does your media consist of? Not watering to run off is how you get salt build up which causes pH to swing out of range. Plants consume far more water than minerals. Salts form as minerals concentrate during dry backs. Proper run off insures excess minerals and salts get washed out between waterings. 10-20% run off is what you want…

The picture with the damaged leaves show an issue with your pH. When the pH swings quickly out of range leaves will deform, twist and form random brown splotches. This will typically lead to lockout and other nutrient deficiency symptoms appearing. Check the run off next feeding to get an idea of where the pH is at and go from there.
