• Can someone explain to me how to keep a mother plant going, please?

Living in southern Spain, I have good enough conditions for another outside grow (as long as I run a quick autoflower) after my current crop, so I want to keep mothers from my last run until I decide what (if any) plants I do another run with.

      • Never let mother plants get rootbound and replace (clone) them every few months. They need 16 or more hours of light a day to stay in the vegetative state forever.

        • Thanks. Would normal house lights work, at the beginning and end of the day if i moved the plants in after sunset and outside after dawn?

          • You don’t need an expensive grow light to keep a couple small plants indoors. You at least want something like 48″ fluorescent T12 shop lights you can get at walmart or the hardware store. You never want to bring indoor plants outdoor and then back in or outdoor plants indoor because of pests. There are natural controls to eat bad bugs outdoors but if you bring them inside with no predators to eat them, they’ll eat your plants.

Only ever seen a couple of moth caterpillars and two baby locusts this entire year so far.Plenty of beneficial natural predators too, like lacewings, parasitic wasps, dragonflies, bats, birds, geckos, chameleons and ladybugs, plus the overnight low temps are usually no lower than 12degC in winter I’ve got an empty guest apartment in my backyard that I think I’ll put some of those T12s into. Too expensive for me to sort out a proper indoor grow at the moment (though I will in future when I’ve worked out the best Euro source for everything). Most people here just do outdoor grows but I want to keep what I’ve grown backed up. Will look at reversing for seeds when I decide what strains I want to keep, but need to get more grows under my belt first.
