You need to hand water it in the the top. Never put it in the reservoir, since it won’t reach the roots correctly that way, and it can clog your pump(s) and line(s).

Do you boil or otherwise sterilize those plugs before use?

Tomatoes, onions, peppers, cucumbers, squash, cilantro, Basil, and Pumpkins.
