• Hey guys and gals. Hey just got my Real buckets was wondering does anyone know what Scotty recommends as far as adding perilite to Coco. How much if so. i usually use Coco loco with Grow dots and recharge with great results never used a bottom water system wondering what He recommends thanks. Y’all

      • Perlite is not needed as it’s only purpose is drainage and lowers cation exchange capacity. Quality coco has an excellent water to oxygen ratio and doesn’t need filler. I wouldn’t use more than 10% in a bottom feeding system.

        • @jmystro agree, I will add some if I’m reusing coco, I’ll also add fresh coco to the reused coco. Don’t know if any of that helps, but it’s been working well.

          • @no-nanners Coco can be reused several times depending on how heavy of biologicals you have consuming it like Trichoderma fungi. I usually cut it after a few runs and don’t toss it in the yard until about 2 years of use. When coco breaks down it releases a bit of potassium and that’s why you may notice coco specific nutrients have a little lower ratio of potassium.
