Hey guys, I’m wondering if anyone knows how long the pollen takes to germinate the pistol? Got rid of my male yesterday. The 5 donors still have pollen on them and I wanna wash them with water to kill the pollen before I put them back in the flower room. Thanks in advance. Have a great weekend!

Pollen load size decides whether the stigma receptors stay closed or open. Not enough pollen and the stigma may stay closed. It needs to be open to accept pollen. It takes anywhere from a few seconds to minutes to occur. It doesn’t take long to pollinate stigma.

@jmystro Basically what you’re saying is if the stigma receptor is open it’s too late?

@sasquatch714 They only open to accept pollen. They’re closed until stimulated and close after pollen is accepted. It happens fast and is based on pollen load.

@jmystro great info, we’re new growers. About to harvest our first!

@sasquatch714 You can think of the receptor as a door that needs a code to open. It’s not going to open for just any pollen. The pollen also needs the genetic code that opens the door.

@jmystro thanks. . Great answer!

@homegrowngas You can spray them down with water after pollination. I’d wait at least 10 minutes. You can apply pollen at least twice. Applying pollen about week apart.

@jmystro I just put all 5 in 1 gals in the tent and grew the male with them. Let them stay in there for 30 days.
