There are 3 pigments that are responsible for reflecting color spectrums we see in plants. Chlorophyll, carotenoids and flavonoids. Near the end of a plant’s life it’ll increase the production of a hormone called ethylene. Ethylene blocks chlorophyll (reflects green) production allowing other pigments (carotenoids and flavonoids) to show.…
