What’s the word on UVA? This HLG lite I bought came with the uva attachment light. Are the benefits real or are people getting a placebo effect? I know what the good Dr said. I’m just seeing so many positive reviews. That contradict him. 🤔

I’m curious about this as well!

Most growers struggle to maintain the basics, like the environment. Adding UVA isn’t going to make any difference for most when the essential variables are not even dialed in.

Is $275 a good price for a used hlg 600r light? Says it’s been used about 6 months?
-
If it’s truly 6 months old that is a real nice price. I’m a huge HLG fan though so I might be bias. ✌🏻

I’m re-amending some soil for pots. I screwed up and got it too “Sweet” the ph is at 7.3. what can I use to buffer that down some? I’ve heard sulfur can be touchy and I don’t need to move it much. Suggestions? TIA

Peat moss, alfalfa or cottonseed meal, and chicken manure are good options.
You are wise to be cautious of sulfur it can turn to Hydrogen Sulfide when saturated or flooded which can kill your roots. It is helpful with really clay dense earth though. Usually you would add it at least a year before planting as well.

Compost is also an option. As organic matter breaks down it increases acidity. If I’m remembering correctly the microbial life in compost prefers acidity to help break down the organic matter, and will buffer the environment to be conducive to what they need. Consider adding some aeration to offset the “heaviness” of the extra compost if you… Read more
