Some do transplants because they can sprinkle mycorrhiza fungi, add other nutes, or compost material.

I think the reason most people start in smaller containers and transplant is to help avoid over watering as well as conserving room and potentially even media if you’re pheno hunting. Starting 100 seeds in a tray takes far less room than 100, 5 gallon pots. As far as “future quality” goes, so long as they don’t get root bound you should be good… Read more
