I start in a solo cup, to a one gallon, to a three or a five. By doing that, you have less of a chance of overwatering. It’s easy to overwater a seedling in a 5 gallon. This being your first grow, you might enjoy time with your plants and learn from each transplant. Planting directly into a 5 gallon might be kinda boring waiting for it to fill out.

In the picture with the temp/humidity monitor, I would snip right where the #9 is, use some plant ties and keep those two sections apart while the branches below catch up a bit, and clone that top piece you cut off. If that’s too much, one more up from that then.

Yes, backing down to a 3 gallon would result in you having to water more frequently, and with proper environment they would air out faster than a 5 gallon. In my experience, I find myself watering 3 gallon pots every 3 to 4 days in veg and every other day in flower.

May I recommend Fox Farms Bushdoctor Coco Loco, a large handful of Wiggle Worm worm castings, 3 Tbs grow dots (if using 3 gallon pots), water with recharge once a week. It’s a simple mix that you can expand on with each grow as you learn.
