I use a plastic mesh made from recycled plastic bottles to help with drainage. It helps wick water up to the soil in the container, stops soil from coming out drain holes, and give the roots a place to go to look for water. There’s really no such thing as safe plastic in the environment. It’s in every fish and animal now thanks to micro-plastics. I wouldn’t use thin stringy plastic for drainage that would eventually release micro-plastics in the soil.

I’d have to agree, micro plastics are massive right now in real life with humans around the globe. I wouldnt go out of my way to increase the sources in my home.

You’ve just inspired me to make thin plastic rope out of plastic drinks bottles (of which I use and recycle a lot) to make recyclable scrog netting 😀
