Looking at installing a mini split in a 27 x 13 room with 8 foot ceiling. Was thinking of 12,000 btu unit, but don’t know if that is the right size, and what seer rating should I get? I’m located in Michigan, and the humidity is very high in the summer. I already have a commercial dehumidifier for the room. Just looking for some help.

12000 btu is rated for 400 sq ft. Seer is just efficiency. Higher seer= more expensive. But more efficient.

Don’t fuck around with under-sized A/Cs that will disappoint you. I would double what you’re thinking. My 16×16 has a 24k btu mini-split that is able to handle the room. Try to get one with multiple settings for day and night or you may need to be there at lights on and off to adjust the thermostat.

@jmystro Thank you brother. I can do just that. I’ll get one with a WiFi thermostat.

I have a 15 k unit and a 8k unit in my 12×24 barn , The 8 is in my 6×10 auto room and the 15 takes care of my lung room that houses a flood table and 1k led bar light. I had a 10 in the lung that wasn’t cutting it . Definitely prepare for more. If you think 12 go 15 or more

This system is very user friendly. I set my rez up with a float valve for continuous fill, and the is system virtually hands off. Another benefit of grow dots is not worrying about feeding schedules. This allows more time with the plants scouting, pruning, and shaping.

Should I switch to Real Buckets?
I’m running this system now. I hand water recharge and epsom salt once a week. @ 2.5 gr Recharge, and 1 Tbls Epsom Salt per gallon of water.

You can use CoCo Coir outside with grow dots. I did it a couple of summers ago. Last year I used ProMix outside with grow dots in 15 gals and it was easy peasy. Make sure to have a IPM program and stick to it. I had a nasty thrip problems last year. Damn bugs anyways.
