I go filter in tent exhausting out. I put a second filter in the lung room during the extra dank runs.

I prefer filter inside tent. It has a pre filter that goes over the outside. The fan can go outside if it gets temps too high or for room inside tent.

Fan out of tent and carbon filter inside.

I prefer to keep the fan as clean as possible. Sucking air through carbon filter as opposed to pushing air through the carbon filter will help keep inline fan clean. If you do decide to push air through carbon filter, put some panty hose or other filter material over fan intake. You want negative pressure in tent if smell is a concern. Positive pressure will push air and smell out of every crack. I’d put the filter in the tent connected to the inline fan outside of the tent sucking filtered air out.

Both.

Sealed room, filter on floor. Positive pressure side of inline powers my humidifier ( home made) which is under my bench the plants sit on.
Inline fan is on ceiling with a t on the positive side blowing towards a/c and a/c blows into it.

I do both, I have my veg tent filter and fan inside the tent. My flower tent I have it outside just to allow additional room for light adjustment in case a crazy stretch happens. I run negative pressure either way.

Personally I have an inline fan and a carbon filter but they’re in the tent pushing air out being that we have really hot and humid summers in North Carolina so I need as much hot air and humidity pumping out of my tent as possible. Have to keep the 4×4 in a shed outside of my house

Filters generally work best when the air is being pulled through them rather than pushed, that being said it’s all up to your needs.
