My White Widow from seed is throwing out 11 pedal leaves on the maristem only. Also one other branch is showing 9 on each leaf. Anybody have information on this? Is it a polyploid?
darkgemini, Hash and guppygirl-
Awesome! I want a clone! 🤣🤣🤣

@GuppyGirl I’m new to cannabis genetics but I am certainly taking clones, I want to cross it with Grandaddy Purple as well.

@plant-daddy I would love to get a clone of that. Bonus points if it’s male/intersex and can make pollen.
1-
@GuppyGirl You never want to breed with intersex plants it just spreads more intersex plants into the growing community and isn’t a desirable trait to breed for! It’s like saying oh look at this Hermaphrodite plant let me make more hermaphrodite plants by breeding with it! why would you want that? Intersex plants will only ruin your Seedless Plants with their intersex pollen sacs that will pop up uncontrollably! You should always try to breed with true stable female plant’s when making feminized seeds and true stable female and male plants for your regular seed breeding!

@plant-daddy This is what weed does.

@jmystro I appreciate the information, still transitioning from horticulture to Cannaculture.

@GuppyGirl What state are you in?
-
-
@GuppyGirl I don’t know the legalities around sharing a clone across state lines. I’ll have to look into it. If it’s no big deal it’s yours free just pay for shipping.
-
@plant-daddy happy to. It’s legal in Illinois. Where are you at? Illinois has had legal Medical since 2014, and legal recreational since January 2020. And I am a medical patient, so it is absolutely legal for me to purchase, posses, grow, and consume cannabis.
Plus if I find something good, I’ll share it with everyone who sends me seeds or clones first. I managed to get some Cherry Paloma slips, I’m eagerly awaiting them in the mail! I plan to collect pollen and make some seeds with it. 👍

@GuppyGirl I’m in MN it’s not legal for me to sell anything for sure so I’d just be sharing. Not sure if we can ship stuff yet but will look into it tonight or tomorrow.

@plant-daddy if not, I have friends out there and there’s a convention I like to go to. I think it’s usually in March.

@GuppyGirl groovy no problem

@wrath420 it’s a trait. I want to see how pernicious. I have divided up my room into 4 smaller rooms and a drying area. I now have extra space in which to experiment that won’t allow pollen to cross between zones. I made this precisely the same way we used to set up surgical small GP tents in our field hospitals. I’m waiting on a box of PPE gowns and foot coverings this week.

@GuppyGirl may be a virus too time and cloning will tell
1-
@plant-daddy absolutely – and were it, I’d expect to see it in the offspring 100%. Some of these viruses don’t fuck around. I have a fire pit in the back yard and burn anything deemed unsuccessful.

There is nothing special about a plant you don’t top. 🙃Un-topped stalks, stems, branches will increase the number of pedals until their genetics max out, usually between 11-13. New growth on a side branch will start with 3-5 pedals and increase until topped. Pedals increase (until max) in veg and then decrease during flower. During flower, new leaves formed will decrease their pedals from 5 to 3 to single bladers sticking out of buds at harvest.

@jmystro I love that you’re here to keep us on track. 🤣🤣🤣
-
@jmystro Thanks buddy!!!
-
@plant-daddy Don’t feel bad. I have a buddy who’s been growing for 10+ years who didn’t pick up on this basic shit because he paid that little attention. I’m often surprised to find out how little even experienced growers actually know.

@jmystro Yeah not formally educated in this area, used to be a welder, machinist, and inspector in the aerospace industry. Then became a professor and instructor.

Not specificaly polyploid, but looks like you got a good stong plant from seed, might be a keeper for further cloning.
