Grow 2 day 14
I’m on day 14 of my grow. The grow is 2 Cherry Paloma, Rainbow Berries, and Purple Zikigai, plus a Lemon Jeffrey #1 from IRIE Genetics, and a Dark Phoenix from Green House Seed Co.
The grow set up is 6 Real Buckets with 1 Reservoir. 24 gallons of Canna Coco Coir. 62.5 grams of Grow Dots per 4 gallon bucket, minus the reservoir of course. Recharge is watered in every 4 to 5 days, about 2 cups per bucket to avoid accelerating the nutrients. Lights are on a timer. One oscillating fan and one fixed fan. Humidifier and a dehumidifier. All in a basement room 12 feet wide by 23 feet long by 6 feet 6 inches high.
The plant in the pictures is the Purple Zikigai. The tips seem to have something akin to nutrient burn, it looks like.
Any suggestions?

Yeah, so I know you’re new and all, but when it comes to cannabis, the differences in feeding can vary from seed to seed quite a bit, even out of the same pack. It is for this reason that I couldn’t really recommend anyone run grow dots with anything new. On your third run of the same clone let her buck but when you just pop a seed out of a pack it’s impossible to know the nutrient needs of that plant…

So now your soil is too hot for that specific pheno and there is absolutely nothing you can do. Run on the dry side and watch her slowly burn the whole grow. Try and over water to “flush” excess nutrients out? Now you’ve activated the food and accelerated the burn. You could take the entire plant out of the pot, try to re pot in a medium with less nutrients. You could try and take a clone.

@frogslayer I have 2 backups already. Good to know!

Yep, same trouble here with a Mandarin Cookies plant.
I got…
Future 1 F1,
Dos Si Dos F-1,
Jokerz F-1, + the Cookies.
Cookies same trouble you having. 4 plants with dots all under treated for less problems. 2 having different types of symptoms and 2 are great 👍

If you’ve been reading my stuff, you’ll know I’m going to transplant and remove ad many dots and medium as gently as I can. Give it a root bath and transplant with fresh coco and canna nutes

I’ll let you know how it goes

So 1, possibly 2 plants have slight nute burn. I’m not going to stop using the Grow Dots just because I need to adjust for next time. We’ll see how this one does, and next time I know it needs less than 62.5 grams of Grow Dots in the 4 gallon bucket. No big. I have 2 more rooted clones of the purple zikigai. I’ll try 50 grams on the next one.

@GuppyGirl it’s way easier to start light and feed extra if you need to. Don’t stop using grow dots, they are a great product for a great price. It’s just we need to read the plants to be able to use the grow dots most effectively!

@frogslayer totally. Which is why I asked here and on discord. But I do want to err on the side of “use a little less next time” rather than having to add nutes. I need this Squirrel Brain proof. So, with 6 buckets, 5 of the 75 gram bags equals 375 grams, which divided by 6 is … 62.5 grams for each 4 gallon bucket of the Canna Coco Coir. So, if I do another Purple Zikigai run, I know I’ll need to reduce the nutes by, I’m thinking around 6.25 to 9.375 grams.

@GuppyGirl the only way to get it squirrel brain proof would be to remove the seed variable and only grow from previously grown clones. Will take a couple years and some good note keeping but is totally doable on my eyes.

Did you guys use a scale when you measured or guessed off a 75gram bag? Not reading off the package , what is it 2grams per gallon so a total of 6grams for a 3 gal?
You didn’t use 62 grams in one plant container did you or was that all together for your 6 plants?
-
@SurfDad_grows 5 packs of 75 grams each gives you a total of 375. Divided by 6, you get 62.5 per bucket. The Dots were mixed in with the Coco prior to going into the buckets, and we’re very well mixed.

@GuppyGirl but clearly on the hot side. I was just curious because even with a time release, constant moisture to any level will continue leaching nutrients. I’m no expert with dots by any means but it’s a general concept. Understandable that it sips from the bottom, but there’s always a but lol. After seeing a bit it’s almost like they need to be measured in weight like a living soil bed weighs( unless you’ve been doing it 30 years and can do it smoothly without). I’m just wrapping my brain around this so I don’t deal with it. Like construction, better to take less than taking too much. You can always cut more off but you can’t put it back. In your case you can’t take it out you have to deal with it now. See where I’m coming from? My brain goes deep looking at every possibility and some unlikely when at times it works. Overthinking can be a problem or a blessing.

Absolutely. That’s why this run is mostly clones. 👍😀

@GuppyGirl my untopped plant is a clone, did better than from seed. Pulled a couple more to cut buds off to revegg and retake clones because I forgot to before the flip 🤦♂️.
-
@SurfDad_grows I have backups of everything except the Lemon Jeffrey #1. Once I can, I’ll be taking a clone or several.

Man, the Real Buckets are very nice and easy. I’m currently running Canna Coco with some extra goodness on the side. The buckets are wonderful! Keep growing the easy way DGC.
