So start with completely dry substrate when putting the pots onto wicking base systems, and plant sprouted seeds directly into that (and then top water as normal SOP for a while)? Just trying to get clarification, please.

Never put a plant in any grow media completely dry. Roots always need moisture and oxygen. Always water media to run off before putting a plant in it. Then hand water the plant from the top until it can actually drink from the reservoir. This may take 2-3 weeks for the roots to get established in the pot enough to where they’ll suck up water from the reservoir daily. Young clones and seedlings without an established root system can not drink much water from the pot, much less pull water from a reservoir. Don’t have media/roots sitting in stagnant reservoir water for multiple days with the level not moving.

I’m using 75grams (small pack) of grow dot mixed in coco/perlite 70/30 mix..I didn’t germinate I just put the seed in the media and give it aliitle water daily when lights kick on…do I also need to top feed nutrients or just ph’d water untill they are fully established or do the grow dots handle all of that? I just use regular phed water in the res! Thx again
