Is silicium monosilisic acid?

I bought some silicium during the recent Black Friday sale believing it was monosilicic acid, but on the back of the bottle it states derived from potassium silicate among other things. I’ve heard the laws regarding fertilizer labeling are a little strange when it comes to non-essential nutrients, can anyone verify that I got the good stuff? I always hear Scotty talking about monocilicic acid and I want to be sure I got the best kind. If it’s just potassium silicate I can get that a lot cheaper.

  • It’s not really potassium silicate or silicic acid. It’s got plant available potash (K2O) and silicon dioxide (SiO2) that’s derived from potassium silicate (K2SiO3). Silicon dioxide mixed with water converts to plant available silicic acid (H2SiO3).

    • Thank you. I’m a little skeptical that the fancy stuff makes a noticable difference, but the sale was too good to pass up. I’ll probably settle for the cheap stuff when this runs out

  • If your using coco or soil as a medium you can just mix in wollastonite. Its dirt cheap like 10-20$ for a lifetime supply. It will slow release silica. I do a second top dress at the beginning of flower also.

  • That will last quite a while, only need 1/2 ml per gallon. I use the same and haven’t needed to use a trellis for support since. I agree it’s definitely not cheap! Good luck! ✌🏼❤️💨

  • You have made an excellent decision. Silicium is the best silica additive I have ever used. Be careful mixing yes that is a decimal point. It is amazing as foliar, spray which is my preferred application.
