You can’t sell tester beans. It’s unethical. Pop them yourself or give them away. You need data from your testers, not money.

Charging for testers is sometimes frowned upon, but it’s also something I think people are slowly coming around to. It costs money to make seeds and testing them yourself can take lots of time and $! I also find people often don’t pop free seeds but they are more likely to actually grow something that they paid for. I don’t think it’s unethical to charge people for testers as long as they understand the beans are untested and they know what they are getting into. (Always be honest about your beans, and let people make their own decision about if they want to purchase or not!)

keep your own goals in mind tho too! If you are trying to start a seed company you’ll need to start building a reputation and making yourself known. (This is the hardest part of the business) Giving away dank free seeds can help get people talking about you and your work, whereas putting a price on testers might make it harder to gather useful data. The best way to get people testing your stuff is to get them excited about what you’ve got! Give some free packs away to growers you respect or grow some yourself and post some pics! Get people talking about your stuff and then people will want to test for ya! (Shout out to all my DGC homies growing my stuff and offering great pics and feedback!)

A small test would be around one or two hundred seeds being grown at the same time in the same environment, you can kill the males and evaluate consistency according to the females performence, testing for consistency is the most important part to be able to sell them with a description that fits the majority of seeds potencial, male to female ratios important if not all-fem.

Don`t take it seriously if i say, i can test two hundred for you, for the sum of 50 000$, you get a full report on phenotypic expressions with photographs and two or three clones of the best females with their respective bud samples. Of course i would not share them with anybody else, exept i might want to keep or reproduce some for my collection.

so enough serious joking, you gotta grow and show them yourself, keep clone mothers, photos and bud samples on hand for promotion, just keep on growing as much as you can and keep talking about them…thats what they say they do… In my opinion, almost all seeds are overpriced these days, i say we can knock of a zero from most prices instead of tossing freebies all over the web.

I’d say charging a little or for shipping is OK though. Cost money to make beans too. Just be careful how much you charge as you won’t get many to test for you.

I totaly agree with that price range, i was about to sugjest 15 dollars for shipping plus a tip for service, like total 20 or 30 bucks for a bakers dozen, lots of decent non-feminised hybrids can be found for 40 to 50 dollars. I might get back to you in a month around last call for outdoor…
