First year for a greenhouse too… Trying to decide what’s getting stuffed in thereπ€πΌ

First… 90% of my technique has been learned under the threat of wolves!π€£ I’m way unorthodox but having success.
I have coco in every pot and bag in the casa. My flood is, of course the wet it/forget it mindset and it’s watered 5 times a day during lights up, once in the middle of the night and allowed to dry “rest” for about eight hours before it all repeats. I get crazy vigorous growth with most cultivars, without too much tip burn.
With emitters it’s been a trial and error process. I don’t let them dry back much at all. It seems like when the do it’s hard on them and if they sag at all it’s a fight. I keep coco in those wet, always. My pattern is borrowed from the guys hitting Hugo blocks with shots every few minutes. Small hits that keep her moist consistently have worked better for me than a deluge and dryback style. Very little runoff this way but I suppose you also run a risk of salt buildup too. I’ve learned to alternate feedings from the rez with ph’d water that I boost a little “P” and Recharge and let it have a little intermittent fast but still hydrate, even minimally, daily.
There’s way better minds at this here, but this has worked for me quite well. I’m only 13 months back after years of an aluminum foils closet and CFC bulbs decades ago. 30+ seed and innumerable clones this year though. Only ones I lost were culled by choice. π€πΌ Keep’em moist and grazing constantly rather than three big squares. I think it’s promotes more vigor and better mass. Silica is your friend too. Make’ able to hold all that water and not be spongy and lay down.
Sorry about the pic… first thing that comes to mind when I say “Keeping the girls watered” since 1979. π€πΌπ€£π€πΌ

I use vinegar, frequently. Soil, coco, whatever. My understanding is that it breaks down to a more useable and plant available form as opposed to the chems which undoubtedly leave a trace behind. “Bioremediation…..”

MemberJanuary 3, 2025 at 8:32 pm in reply to: Would like some advice with watering in cocoI use straight Canna Coco with the occasional chunk or two of perlite, but very little. 1,3,5 & 7 gallon fabric and panda bags from damn near everybody. I like clones in 1 gals in a flood, 3βs to flesh one out and learn her from seed. Fives for mothers and bigger stuff I want to veg a big more and drop autos in 7βs after a stint in a solo cup. You gotta stay on coco because it can dry back hard. That starts messing with all kinds of things when you get it wet again. I had that happen a few times. Donβt overwhelm yourself. Iβve done that too.
Iβve not run the bottom feeder bases but thatβs kinda what I do. Iβd recommend irrigation until run off and collect and reuse in your reservoir if you have the capa$ity and space.
When I hand water it I hit it with Nutes and recycle later in the day. Recharge five days later. In between I add PHd RO with Dune silica and a micro drop of TRiA… neat stuff, as needed. It all balances well, for me at least.
In the flood it’s hit with a whole 20 gallon dose of Canna for the week I’m in and then as it is absorbed or evaporates, I add 50/50 RO/Well water. Never touch a bottle of Cal-Mag again!π€£
Im staring down a big box of Hugo blocks and emitters that I want to give a run at hitting them with shots… I’m trying it all at some point. No DWC except our berries and veggies.

I used 5 gallon air pots and amazon parts, a digital cycle timer and a 10 gallon garbage can res for my first “irrigation solution” π€£ We took a cruise right before flip. I used Happy Frog/Ocean Forrest and put everything in 22×44 Ag tubs and collected my runoff in five gallon buckets through holes at one end!π It worked… barely. I put three emitters in each pot and top fed as needed. Before and after.
I grow way different now indoors, but will use a very similar set up outdoors this summer, just encircling them with veggies and no tubs!π€πΌ

Not at all. I throw autos in between vegging plants and flip the lights to flower all the time. Just remember: DLI.
This should help a lot.

Remember autos won’t take the same rate of feeding as well. I give mine about 50-60% strength nutes, but that’s strain dependent as hell.
Have fun!! Stay High! π€

For me so far, the best yield from an auto has been Fast Buds’ Strawberry Banana. I managed to coax almost 10 oz from it. I didn’t know you weren’t supposed to torture them like photos!π€£ Actually, it was WAY surpassed by an RQS Purplematic CBD. That bastard filled my 2×4 scrog and took 13 weeks. We got just shy of a pound! Made edibles for my son and they’re astounding. Won’t get ya high, but still cure what ails ya… gives everyone wicked munchies though!

I literally just dropped three of Seedsmans Zkittles autos into the old trusty amber pill bottle full of 5.8! I’ll let ya know what goes on.

I might not create something that never existed in some other iteration, but it will be something I made manifest and that’s all any of us are chasing I guess. I’m sure it’ll get frustrating and uncomfortable a time or three even. That’s how we gain wisdom, I’m told. Stay within plant count and this can be a pretty painless adventure. π€πΌπ€£π€πΌ

I just buy plain white distilled vinegar from my local grocer. I put 30 ml in 2 pints of water and use it buffered so it doesn’t hit as hard and I’m not chasing wide swings in the number. I believe that can screw up your nutes and Recharge as well. It really just takes sitting down ahead of time and slowly adding and documenting it until you nail it.
I also started using test strips. I still grab a meter when I’m in a hurry, but get comfortable with a kit, it’s way more precise.

Killer man! I’m a week behind you. I’m trashing my guerrilla tent thing for an ACI 5×5 that’ll hold the same flood, cleaner. π€πΌ
